Ballast stabilization






Ballast gluing fulfils most different functions:


·                Protection from ballast flight by solidification of the ballast building surface


·                Stabilization of the ballast bed at railroad crossings and with switches


·                Stabilization of transitions from concrete roadway to the ballast bed track


·                Solidification of the ballast shoulder to avoid instabilities




for the gluing and/or solidification and stabilization is used a liquid, cold and solvent - free 2-components resin system. It ensures a good wetting of mineral undergrounds, is low-viscous and steady opposite normal fats and waste water, how they are present in the course threshold range.


the adhesive is upper-laminar applied. It rotates the stones and drips downward through. At the contact points of the stones form points of sticking, which harden temperature-dependent within 10-48 hours. The developing "connection" is permanent elastic and chemically stable. No doubts exist regarding environmental compatibility and disposal. The penetration depth depends on the applied quantity and the ballast temperature. Penetration depths of 20-25 cm are realistic. Fineness’s obstruct the bonding procedure little, they keep humidity longer in the ballast and obstruct excluding brisk draining.


the kind of the mix-exact yield of the resin depends considerably on the extent and geometry of the surface which can be stuck together. The ballast gluing takes place with the help of special mobile 2-components mixing units and/or with small surfaces with the hand. At present two different machine types are used.
